"Religion"

(me speaking the word at the teen retreat 2008)
Religion- sooo i think this is a very big "topic" that we should all discuss. I mean, alot of people have different views on religion. I didnt start attending church till i turned 14...and now i go every sunday. It does some good and i have seen some changes in my life because of walking with the lord. BUT! , i dont want to be Fake..im not perfect..i have took a glass of acholol and i have smoked before..I curse like every day...Soo walking with the lord is not a FAST tranformation. We have to give it time. But i do encourage most teenagers to get involved with there church as soon as they can. I attent AME ZION with pastor Staccto Powel and i enjoy it every sunday. Over the years, even some of my friends have came. Courtney Spearman, Gitory Bartell, Emone Mclean(just to name a few)..they enjoy it alotttt..But there is a different type of commitment teenagers have with the lord than adults. TRUST ME, i know how it is to say "geez, am i doing the lord wrong?" or have you ever felt like you would be punished for doing something but did it anyway.. We all need a second chance and god will forgive us..BUT ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. Soooo for this topic..questions are "how often do you attend church" "Do you only go to church because your parents make you" "Do you believe in god" "what are your views as a teenager walking with the lord" ? ---THANKS -evan moody

  2. and thats the type of attitude you should have. I mean, dont feel like you have to go..Feel like you want to go..because god is important.. But to know that you have a good relationship with god or to even know where tall both stand in each others life! then you are walking in the right direction

  3. Ok well...I personally have some pretty big views about religion. I honestly just don't trust religion. I just sorta think that it's a good chance that religion is a scapegoat to death. A belief that there is somewhere else to go after death because we don't want to come to the simple fact that life just ends right there and that our body's turn right back to dust. I don't think that anybody really wants to come to that religion. Cuz like...if believing in God is right...then are you telling me that all the other religions out there are absolutley wrong in their beliefs? That once God comes, they're all going to burn in hell for taking another path of living life? What if their lifestyle still measured up to the commandments of God?...do they still burn? And look at it this way...what if OUR religion turns out to be the wrong religion? What if another religion's beliefs were right, and for not following them we suffer the consequences of which we knew nothing of. So who's to say which religion is right?

Ok...so don't beat me up (this is my first blog). I'm just saying what I think of on a daily basis when I look up into the sky and wonder. I'm not sayin that I don't believe in God. Because I do believe in a higher power. But which higher power? idk. I'm a very open person when it comes to religion.

  5. okay if you are gonna shout out our church do it right. We ATTEND GRACE AME CHURCH. I got saved when I was 13. When I got saved I knew of GOD but I didnt know him Like I do now. Being in a relationship with God is so amazing. When you find yourself getting excited for no reason thats when you know that God has placed an unfindable(i dont think thats a word but it sounds good lol) joy in your heart that no one else can place there. God has brought forth a major transformation in my life that nobody else could have done. All the other stuff in my life are just minor things. I must say that my aunt got me in the church and Im truely thankful for that. I cant say that i go to church because my parents go like the rest of you because my parents does not attend church. Thats a choice I have made on my own. I drive myself to church when i wasnt driving i got a ride to church. Just being in an open relationship with God just makes me so happy. okay i know i wrote alot but in sunday school today i learned that we have to be witnesses. And witness the work of GOD to you people. So if yall dont know God you better find out quick, fast and in a hurry.

  7. Well as for me i never ever go to church...im not sayin it as a good thing or nothin, im just sayin like i never go...i used to go to church every single sunday...but anyway umm like over the years i've started to see church as one of those things that isn't 100% necessary but it is highly recommended...like it won't hurt u to not attend but it could make a difference when u need it (i dont really know how else to word it)...but religion in general like i dont believe in the word...like i dont feel like we as human beings can put a label on something so sacred...i believe that what we know as religion today is the original expression of God's love for his creation mixed in with the doctrine of man...This kinda brings me back to church...a majority of the things i've seen over the years in visiting different churches and seeing how they conduct things showed me that man interprets things the way he wants...like there are extra things that man has added in that people have come to believe is the way God intended them to be...I feel like im rambling but to end this im just gonna say that i dont believe in "religion" i believe in faith...I believe in God's love, his plan, his Son, his power and influence in and over all things...He is my everything...oh yeah i almost forgot church is important for fellowship in God..."For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there i am in the midst of them." Matthew 18:20

  8. i feel this. I'm like you, i attend church regularly, but i still mess up a daily basis...it's a work in progress, people shouldn't get discouraged to keep trying though, because it's important.
